In a new survey, 2,000 UK consumers were asked how they want to hear about promotions by their favourite retailers. The results are not what a lot of observers expected.
So: what channel would you expect 18-24 year olds to prefer to hear about retail promotions? By Twitter? Facebook?
Wrong. 68% of this age group prefer to be emailed about such promotions. Twitter came in very low indeed – only 12% of this age group wanted to see tweets about retail promos. And that's promotions by their favourite retailers we're talking about here, remember.
If it proves anything, it's that in marketing communications you can't make assumptions on anything. Even obvious-looking stereotypes might be completely wrong...
